Our charity of the month for October is Alzheimer’s Australia.

Join the Fight Dementia March

• There are currently more than 260,000 Australians who have dementia
• There are 1.2 million carers of people with dementia
• By 2020 there will be 75,000 baby boomers with dementia.
• By 2050 there will be almost one million Australians with dementia.

The 2011/12 Federal Budget saw the Federal Government terminate the Dementia Initiative. This means a loss of guaranteed funding for dementia care, services and research.

Join the Fight Dementia March on October 13 and support the case to have dementia restored as a National Health Priority in the 2012/13 Federal Budget.

Hundreds of people from all over Australia will be joining us to add their voice of support.

On the day meet at the back of Old Parliament House (Queen Victoria Terrace)

• 9:30am:  Registrations open where you will get your t-shirt, badge and wrist band and placard if you would like one.
• 10:30am   Ita Buttrose will lead the marchers up to Parliament House
• 11:00am   You will hear from Ita, Minister for Mental Health and Ageing, The Hon Mark Butler MP, a person with dementia and a carer.
• 11:30am  BBQ lunch.

We hope you can take a couple of hours out of your day to join us.
